Response time measure inline script

Hello everybody!

I was looking for a method to measure reaction of responses given on a RatingScaleWidget.
The widget looks like this:

The solution I found in the forum is the following:

This looks good, but I'm not sure if it works the way I need it to work:
I need the time from when image and ratingscale are presented to the subject up to the subjects' mouseclick, i.e. the time from the stimulus onset up to the subjects reaction for every presented image.

Can I do it like this or do I have to change the code?

I also thought about implementing one blank (duration:0) before and one blank after the inline_script I use to set up the ratingscale, but the computed time (blank2-blank1) differs from the reaction time measure described above.

I'm really thankful for any ideas regarding this topic. :)

  • Hey Lea,

Do you have a button Next or something for passing from an image to the other one or do you want the time between the onset of the image to the first click on the rating scale? Because surely your participants might want to collect their responses no?
Also could you post your script I could check maybe.

    Best,

    Sylvain

  • Hey Sylvain,

I do have a next button:

Is it possible to get both time measure? The time the subject needs from the stimulus onset up to clicking the rating scale and the time needed until the next button is pressed?

The run script looks as follows:

    Do you need anything else?

    Thank you very much!

    Lea

  • Hey Lea,

Could you just add your script this way I could see if I can manage to help you.

    Sylvain

  • Hey Sylvain,

I don't seem to understand which script you mean. So the one above is not what you need? Maybe you could specify it a bit? That would be great. :)

    Best,
    Lea

  • Hey Lea,

No I just mean the script opensesame .osexp you have right now. It is easier then to see your whole code and eventually add what could do the trick then.

    Best,
    Sylvain

  • Hey Sylvain,

could you tell me how to download the whole script? Or should I just make screenhots of every everything?
Another reaction time related question: Excel gives me some output that I don't really understand:

Are the first three digits ms? This seems unlikely to me. Do you know how to interprete this?

    Thank you!

  • Hey Lea,

    this looks strange.
Did you open the logfile correctly?
    See detailed description http://osdoc.cogsci.nl/3.2/manual/logging/

  • Hey!

I used the logger item, which creates a csv-file. It should store the response time in in the correct form by default, right? So I have no idea why this happens. :(

  • Hi Lea,
my question was how you open the csv-file. I would recommend you to you R not Excel. If you use Excel open an empty Excel sheet and then go on import from text data. See the link above.

  • Hey Lea,

No I am talking about yout opensesame script. Just upload it here so we can see it here.
