Delimiting n. items

Hi!
We would like to use OpenSeame for our speech therapy sessions.

We are blocked though: we have a big database of items, however, this latter is too long for children with speech difficulties, therefore we would like, for every trial, to show a determined and limited number of random items, picked from the whole database, and not only the first 10, for example.

Do you have any tips on how we could do that?

Thank you!

  • Hi,

In the loop item, if you set the order of the table to random and the repeat value to less than 1, you will randomly sample a proportion of the rows in the table. For example, if you have 100 rows and set repeat to 0.5 with a random order, you will randomly sample 50 rows. That sounds exactly like what you need, right?

    Cheers!
