coding synchronisation of auditory-visual presentation

I am a pretty new user of Opensesame. I creating an experiment by auditory-visual presentation. The auditory stimuli is one musical sequence including 10 chords, and the visual stimuli is an arithmetic including 10 numbers. Each chord is for 650ms, and each number is for 400 ms and 250ms of inter stimulus interval. I have 80 trials.

My question is how to code to make the onset of each number is synchronised with the onset of each chord? and how to make protocol for it, and for presenting 80 trials?

Many thanks!

  • Hi Sunlight,

There are many ways to do this, but one way would be to use a coroutines item. You then have a sampler that starts at time 0 and continues for as long as the sound file lasts. And 10 sketchpads, one for each number, that are shown at different times, which you can tweak until the synchronization is ok. Does that make sense?

And, just to be clear, the above would correspond to a single trial. You would build multiple trials with a loop, juist as you would with any other trial-based experiment, and as explained in the tutorials.
