OpenSesame Platform for Operation Span Task

edited September 5 in OpenSesame

Hi Dear Sebastiaan,

I am an MA student of Applied Linguistics. In order to collect data for my MA thesis, I have to use OpenSesame and since this is the first time I want to use OpenSesame, I have some questions and i would be grateful if you could provide me with answers.

I want to use this test for collecting data (https://www.millisecond.com/download/library/ospan/ ) but unfortunately Inquisit Lab has a built-in 30 day trial period and when the trial period expires, I have to purchase a licence. Since collecting data of my study is a time-consuming process and takes at least 2 or 3 months, I prefer to use OpenSesame for this purpose. I appreciate it if you could check the test and inform me whether I can use the script of this test and copy in OpenSesame and run with it. In other words, Is it possible to create such a test with OpenSesame?

Thanks ever so much in advance.

If you literally mean whether it is possible to copy the script from the Inquisit Lab to OpenSesame, then the answer is: no, each program uses its own scripting language, so you cannot copy-paste between programs. However, this:

… is an entirely different question! Because yes, it is definitely possible to create such a test with OpenSesame. I'm not sure if there is an existing implementation of the operation-span task for OpenSesame, but it appears that there is at least one for PsychoPy (which is also open source):

    Cheers!

There's much bigger issues in the world, I know. But I first have to take care of the world I know.
