Stimulus didn't disappear immediately when a response was made on tablet

edited June 2016 in OpenSesame

Hi,

I'm using the opensesame inline script to create a stop-signal task adapted on tablet.

The response script is like this,

t0 = target_canvas,show()

click, pos, t1 = my_mouse.get_click()

if click != None:
var.response_time = t1 - t0

The stimulus should disappear once a response (click/touch) is made by the subject. The task run quiet okay on the computer.

But when I run it on tablet, the stimulus would also disappeared while a response was made, but it didn't disappear immediately like it run on the computer. After the touch response was made, the stimulus still sustained on the screen for a moment before disappeared. (It looked like it "delayed" disappeared)

Due to it run well on the computer, I'm thinking maybe it's not because of the script. But I'm not sure what else might cause this on tablet...

Could anyone helps?

Thank you so much!!

Best,
Samantha

    Hi Samantha,

    It seems that you don't explicitly clear the display, in which case the display persists until a new display is shown on the next trial. If this feels sluggish, you can simply add a blank sketchpad after the response.

    Cheers!

    Hi Sebastiaan,

    Thank you for the suggestion!

    But when I run the task on tablet, the delayed disappearance of the stimulus seemed still exist after the response.

    Here's the script I used followed your suggestion,

    t0 = GO_canvas.show()

    click, pos, t1 = my_mouse.get_click()

    if click != None:

      blank_canvas.show() #A blank_canvas=canvas() was created in the prepare phase

      var.response_time = t1 - t0

    Does that what you mean to remove the stimulus after a response is made?

    Thank you so much for this!!

    Best,
    Samantha

    Hi Sebastiaan,

    I'm sorry I made a very stupid mistake while trying adding the blank canvas...
    The solution you provided worked very well!! It did solve the delayed appearance after the response!!

    Thank you so much!!

    Best,
    Samantha
