Hi Gérard, i am not sure what your sequence shall look like. Here is a code for a script that controls for first and second order sequences. What i did in the script was that i set a pool of items. Then i draw 'randomly' one item after the other fr…

Hi, in the mean time, i made a few more tries. I used the windows test mode which did not help. I used the old OS version 3.0.7 which looks pretty oldschool and did not help either. I tried both Test mode and Old Version with direct parallel port…

Hey Cailee, have you already tried var.trigger.write(chr(value)) or trigger.write(chr(value)) ? Maybe it helps, Stephan

Hi Eduard, thx for sharing this experiment. As always things to not work on the first try: With psycho backend (set by default) i got the error message: 'unable to share contexts'. Hence, i tried other backends. In legacy i got the error message 'co…

Order of variables in the output files: I would prefer to have the variables in the order they appear during the experiment instead of an alphabetic order. Maybe an option in the logger item would be nice to select between chronologic and alphabetic…

Further i found python codes from BrainVision. However, i do not know what to do with it: import serial import time import threading Connected = True PulseWidth = 0.01 def ReadThread(port): while Connected: if port.inWaiting() > 0: …

I found the new link: https://osdoc.cogsci.nl/2.8.3/devices/triggers/ With this, i managed to install dlportio.dll I now do not get error messages any more. But the triggers are not shown either. 😦 Do you have an example experiment? Just to check wh…

Hi Hannah, there is a variable calles subject_nr and even a variable called subject_parity. It is really worth looking into the manual for such simple things. Here the direct link to your question: https://osdoc.cogsci.nl/3.2/manual/counterbalancin…

Hi Alisdair, you may log the information in the logfile or you may print it in the outcome window. Cheers, Stephan

Hi Kiki, i observed something similar. It is very odd. Look here? Maybe that helps you to figure out where the problem comes from Stephan

Seems like a reason. Yes, it happened on Windows. I did not attend the sessions when the problem occured. I keep on telling everybody to not pause for too long. ;) How do it set python priorities to high?

@sebastiaan , that does make sense. But shouldn't the 'press Q to quit' information disappear when pressing the space bar? @eduard : i am using the actual version 3.2.5. And yes i often used the abort button already

Hi Christian, have you already looked into your output? Maybe you are summing up some values (e.g. None) that you do not want in that sum? Just an idea. Another idea: put some print recent_acc in your code, to see what the variable values are. (If…

Have you already tried to save your images in another format (e.g. tif). Open them with a picture program and save as image.tif

Having center=True (as for canvas.text) would be nice for rectangles too (canvas.rect). Is there something to delete text from a canvas? Sometimes you want to show the same stimulus various times (in a loop), but tell the participants the trial nu…

I found out that the last 3 button presses that were logged, where logged twice (two lines). It does not seem logical to me that a participant presses: 1,2,3,4,5,6,6,7,7,8,8 and then the program aborts  Seems more like a software/hardware …

Hi Sannee, i have not worked with sound yet. For your questions 2 and 3: This piece of code may help you further. Of course, you need to adopt it for your purpose. Especially the x and y positions. It is a questionnaire with 12 items on one page. Y…

Hi regina, i just had the same problem. My experiment includes 4 equal sessions. In session 3, this happened almost at the end.(Image) It does not occur often. 'til now it happened in one of 20 cases. And i hope it will not occure anymore :smile…

Hi Gérard, if you are using Apple, this could be your problem. Greetz Stephan

Always check your logfile before starting data collection! PS: I even write the complete data handling (calculating means of trials etc.) in an R script before i start data collection. Then you notice if every variable is in your logfile. S…

Hi Vatsal, have you seen the paper from 2012? Maybe an updated paper (2018) is needed for the new versions. But that's Sebastiaans work :) * I think the inline_scripts are very powerful. Much easier to use than in eprime. You can also use scripts …

Hi Sportpsy, as far as i know you need only one logger item at the end of your experiment. That's what i use. :) Various logger may lead to problems. Many people have been asking about how to get various logfiles (e.g. two for one experiment). How…

Hi Yovan, as I said: define your variables (stimuli, color, size) in a loop. Loops are very powerfull :) Cheers Stephan

Hi Kian, that's exactly what i was asking for in the last comment in the wishlist :) http://forum.cogsci.nl/index.php?p=/discussion/284/wishlist-what-would-you-like-to-see-in-opensesame#latest What you can do at the moment: Probably you have a seq…

Hi Yovan, I imagine you defined the stims in a loop. Stimuli (stim1, stim2) Probably you just need a second variable called Color, with the values of your colors (green, red). If you wrote a script this may help: if var.Stimuli == 'stim1': var.C…

Hi Ilja, i am quite sure you need to change something in this line: Letter = widgets.label(form, var.alfabet) Try to add font_size = 32, color = 'blue' , or font_bold = True. I am not sure, but maybe like this Letter = widgets.label(form, var.alf…

Hi Amihai, did you try the experiment i attached in the link? It contains not much more than pressing a button and keeping it pressed while some stimuli are presented. The duration you are asking for is easy to code. Just create a new variable: tim…

Hi boraste, Maybe you get an 'indentation error'? In python it is important to mind the spaces/tabs of the beginning in each line. In your code you need a tab at the beginning of the second line. Just go at the end of the first line and press 'ente…

Hi azrael, From the Manual: https://osdoc.cogsci.nl/3.2/manual/variables/ subject_parity Is 'odd' if subject_nr is odd and 'even' if subject_nr is even. Useful for counterbalancing. Have you tried [subject_parity] == 'odd'? Another option: [subje…

The example is in the experiment which is uploaded in the linked discussion. If you lift the button too early you get back to the beginning. --> There you need to keep the mouse button pressed, but you can easily change it to the space key on th…
