To elaborate more: when the file is loaded and played it doesn't play the 2 sinewave tones (one left speaker, silence, and one right speaker) as the original file does but only plays a single click sound in both speakers at the same time. Could th…

Hi EJ, I understand now. I generate the data in the same way, so looks like I'm good to go. Thanks for your answer to my question but I suspect I was unintentionally ambiguous (or I didn't fully grasp your response). I have pilot data, Experiment…
-
Hi EJ, That's great thanks. When you say that the means and variance should be "the same" do you mean that they should be in the same ballpark, as in the effect is similarly reflected in both sets of data? Also, I have one other question…
-
Hi again EJ, So having read through the papers you pointed me towards (thanks again), I'd like to run my understanding of them by you: If I followed the text correctly, in order to run an informed ttestBF with the aid of pilot data (or data from a…
-
Hi EJ, Yes, I'm using a t-test (specifically ttestBF). Thank you, I'll have a look at those papers now. Thanks, Boo.

I think the issue may lie in the fact that I've been opening the converted EDF files (asc) in Excel and saving as .csv files. Excel doesn't appear to be capable of loading the full file contents and by me saving what has been loaded as .csv it is ob…

Hi Sebastiaan, That's pretty neat. I'll be sure to give these a go. Thanks yet again for all your help. Boo.

That's great. I'll have a look when I get back from a weekend wedding. Thanks, Boo.

Hi Edwin, Thanks for that! Boo.

Hi folks, Any final suggestions before we run? Thanks, Boo.

Sorry, Here's a working link to an image of the sequence: http://i.imgur.com/HCclOwu.png Boo.

Hi Edwin, Here is the sequence in question: file:///G:/sequence.bmp In this sequence the Sketchpads beginning with 'Diode' are default (depending on which condition) and are held for one frame (10ms). These are simply in place to accommodate the…

Hi Boris, Thanks for the suggestions. We have indeed been implementing these already. Thanks again, Boo.

Hi Edwin, There is indeed an inline script just before the sketchpad. This is need in order to flip the audio switch once the photodiode picks up the stimuli on the following sketchpad. I'm guessing there is little that can be done about this? Bo…

Well. After a mini-marathon of debugging I discovered a piece of code in the wrong loop. Naughty inline script. Ahem... Basically panic over. There are still instances of frames being held to the screen longer than they are instructed to be but af…

Update: I've also just had a word with my supervisor and he speculates that it may be some problem with memory where there is an unwanted increment of some kind which may explain the gradual deterioration in timing. Just throwing it out there.

And here we go: http://psy.swan.ac.uk/staff/freegard/audio%20switch%20report.pdf

And deservedly so! Gary is really bringing some reliable and affordable solutions to us mere non-engineer types. As Arnold used to say, I'll be back with a link to the nice data soon.

Hi, An update on the audio visual temporal accuracy. Gary, our wonderful IT engineering guru, conceived and developed a solution to my problems. Essentially he created an external switch that is connected to the PC (receiving commands to switch o…

Hi, It would be very kool if in the eye-tracking plugin there was an addition to the sketchpads where one could simply create an 'area of interest' by clicking and dragging. This feature exists in 'Experiment Builder' and basically reports when a p…

Hi all, Sorry for taking so long to add this. Xmas break and crazy work since has distracted me somewhat. The following is the staircase code I used for my experimental design in OS. It is by no means the most efficient code (it certainly could b…

Thanks for your reply. The buffer approach appeared to work indeed. We used the oscilloscope to measure the beep followed by the next sketchpad. The output showed that the beep played approx 90ms after it's call which lined up with where we wanted …

I've had a suggestion for a video card by a perception researcher: Cambridge Research Systems, it's called apparently and is supposedly very high standard. I'm still looking into processors and audio cards. Boo. Sorry, just saw you replied. Will …

If you want a variable to be global (accessible anywhere in the experiment) you need to define the variable in the loop immediately after the experiment sequence above. I'm in class at the moment but can give you more detail later on this as I've r…

Hi Wouter, I ended up doing something very different from your code and it also worked. I'll post it up here with detailed descriptions on what is happening soon for any other user that wants to do something similar. If mods could leave the thread…

Hi, That opens up just fine now :D I'll go ahead and have a play around with it for the rest of the day and report back how I get on. Thanks Wouter, you're a star ;) Boo.

Hi there Wouter, Thanks very much for getting back to me! I've downloaded your OpenSesame file but unfortunately get the following error: Error: Failed to open 'C:/Documents and Settings/psundere/Desktop/Staircase /IOR_acc_letters1.opens…

Thanks for the prompt reply. I was wondering if there might be a cheeky way around this issue in the following fashion. Would it be possible to create a, say, 10ms synth tone with volume at zero, present that and have it followed with the 7ms tone …

We're ready to rock this end. Thanks for all your help. Boo.

Hi again, I was talking about single timestamps BUT we went ahead and replaced the Quadro FX graphics card for something (not sure what Gary used) higher spec. We were getting some odd time stamps including 13ms before replacing as well as the 37ms…
