Time between loops

Hello everyone,

My experiment consists of 5 blocs of sequence. At the start of the experiment the presentation time of my stimuli ( a pair of picture) is okay with my setups, but after, the time is longer. I'dont understand why ....

Can someone help me ?

Thanks in advance.

  • Hey Tanghe,

I believe OpenSesame loads the stimuli for a trial sequence at the beginning of that trial sequence, which takes some time, which gets added to your trial time. I've had much success in fixing this with the "time_to_pad" method that Sebastiaan proposes here.

Essentially you shorten the last canvas of your loop to 0ms and then set the experiment to "sleep" for the duration that you want. The time to pad varies depending on how long it took to draw the stimuli at the beginning, so that each trial ends up being exactly the right length. Note that time_to_pad can never be negative, so your desired trial length should always be a bit longer than the max trial length you get from the variable drawing time.

    Hope that helps!
