Average reaction time issues

Hello,

Our team has been programming an experiment with OpenSesame and we’re currently stuck. We primarily need reaction times per trial as an outcome measure. We have already recorded data from several participants and we noticed that the reaction times that we have do not resemble those from other similar studies. We realized that our logger only displays the avg_rt variable for every trial, but not the response_time. Is there any way that we may infer the response time from the avg_rt displayed on every row? If so, could you provide the formula used for computing the average response time?
Could it also be possible that our average reaction times include the time needed for the display of the stimuli and fixation crosses, apart from the actual reaction times?
Thank you!

  • HI,

This seems to be the same discussion as this one here.

Could con confirm/disconfirm this? If it is a duplicate, that I'd like to close it here, and centralize the discussion in the other one. Okay?
