mediation and direct effects
I'm really digging JASP and its rapid ability to exeucte a mediation analysis.
I do have a question that I don't see answered elsewhere. The output seems to provide everything one needs to write up the mediation analysis. Are the direct effects that are displayed the equivalent of the regression that one would normally run in, say, the Process Macro of SPSS?
As well, I don't see the direct effects of the predictor onto the mediator; is that processed somewhere? Or are there other steps I need to take? As well, is the "standardized coefficient" the same as a "beta"?
In short, I'm a bit confused about what I should extract to write up the mediation (I'm used to using the more bulky steps via SPSS and similar). I see there was a post on this before, but i was hoping for a bit more elaboration. Thanks! I've attached a screenshot of my output if it's any help.

I'll ask our expert!

Hi ebenau,
good to hear that you're liking the mediation analysis! The displayed effect estimates should be the same that you would get using the process macro.
The direct effect from the predictor on the mediator is not displayed in the output, if you would want this could you please submit a feature request? In the meantime you can get that parameter estimate using linear regression
X -> MYou can also see the parameter in the model plot.
The standardized estimates are indeed what you would call "beta" coefficients in linear regression.
How to report the analysis is really dependent on the target audience, but there are a lot of posts online about how to report mediation analysis, which I would look at myself as well to give you an answer. In principle, you can get all the information you need from JASP!
I hope this helps :)
