JASP GUI

Hi,

I've installed JASP via flakpak on my brand new ubuntu 20.04. This is what I can see after starting it - what is needed? It worked like a charm on ubuntu 18.04.

  • I've forwarded your issue to one of our programmers. For future occasions, you are better off using our GitHub page for questions like these (the issue can be assigned to one of the programmers, it is easier to request and provide information, etc)

  • Many thanks. Right now, the only thing I can do is waiting, isn't it?

  • Well, going to jasp-issues wouldn't have made us solve it faster but it does increase fidelity of communication.

It looks quite bad like that!

Are you running the latest version of you video drivers?

Could you try running it from the terminal like: `flatpak run org.jaspstats.JASP --safeGraphics` ?

And if it still doesn't work you could post the output of the terminal here.

  • Wow, enabling the safegraphics option did the trick! Even more interestingly, it works w/o that switch since them... I tried it yesterday, it looked like the screenshot I originally posted. Today in the morning I received Ubuntu updates. Either those contained a relevant fix or the safegraphics switch changed something permanently. For possible future issues: I run Ubuntu 20.4 with an Intel-based system (10th generation i7 cpu with Iris Plus (G7)).

    Thank you!

This makes sense, as the flag tells JASP to turn that setting on, you can see it in Preferences -> Interface.

    However, I wouldn't turn it off ;)

Thank you for letting us know what videocard you use, I think a similar one gave us grief on Apple systems...

    Enjoy using JASP!

  • I had the same problem and safegraphics worked for me too. I've got 20.04 ubuntu with a thoroughly updated Dell 13 XPS (this year's model).
