Error message wiht OSWEB experiemnt
Hi,
I'm running and OSWEB experiment on Jatos. It is a really big file (900mb) and take 2 mins to load. When it does load, I get the following message:-
A problem occurred:
It's not allowed to reload this component (ID: 1). Study (ID: 1) is finished.
I tried just running just the practice phase of the experiment (which is over 40mb) on Jatos and that works fine.
Is the warning related to the size of the study?
many thanks

Hi Skilli,
'It's not allowed to reload this component...' only happens if one tries to reload a component (a part of a study in JATOS - since you use OSWeb you likely have only component and it is equal to study) usually with the browser's reload button. Then JATOS automatically finishes the study. So I don't think this error is related to the size of the study. JATOS can handle big files. But ...
900MB is indeed a really big file. I'm impressed that it takes only 2 min for you to load. You must have a good internet connection. But you should assume that many of your participants, at least if they run your study from their home computer, will take much longer to download this file. I don't know the details of your study - maybe you want to run it in your lab where you have fast internet - but you might want to consider reducing the file size or split it up into several files and load them 'on-demand' during the experiment (or ideally both).
There is a trick in most browser's developer tools: one can simulate a slower internet connection, e.g. in Chrome go to Dev Tools, 'Network', 'Online' and choose e.g. 'Fast 3G'. You can use this to test your study under more realistic conditions.
Best,
Kristian
Thanks @kri
To split the file up and load "on demand" would I need to create several small OSWEB studies and present tham as seperate components on JAOTS?

I'd say it's better to ask this question in the OSWeb forum where you will find the experts for this.
