[solved] OSWeb local log files location

ArtArt
edited November 2020 in OSWeb

Hi there,

I was trying to add this to an existing thread but it didn't work.

where are the log files for the local OSWeb browser stored? I.e. when you test OS Web on your own computer?

I didn't see this asked before so I believe this is a lame question but I really can't find them ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

  • Hi @Art

The log files are not stored locally, but only on the server on which you run your OSWeb experiment. Typically, you use JATOS for this.

See this article for more information:

  • Hi Lotje,

Perhaps I was unclear: I meant what about test runs in the browser on the own computer. Where are the log files from those runs stored on the disk?

    Hi Art,

They aren't. OSWeb test runs are for testing whether your program is compatible with OSWeb only, not for creating output files (not even test files).

If you want, you could see the variables that would normally, when running your experiment on Jatos, be logged by looking a the console messages. To do so, press Ctr+Shift+J when running your script in a browser. But to get a proper log file (in spreadsheet form) you should either run your experiment with the desktop version of OpenSesame or with OSWeb on a server (i.e. typically Jatos).

    Cheers,

  • That explains why I could now find them.

    Thanks!
