JASP SEM standard method for CI

Dear JASP-Team,

I would like to make sure how JASP works when SEM is set to different methods for Confidence Interval calculation. Does "Standard" calculate the values of SE and CI based on the Sobel test (Delta-method)?

Thank you for your answer!

  • Hi Klara (@klarasv),

Thanks for your question! Yes, you are right.

    1. If "Standard" is chosen, standard errors for the corresponding parameters are calculated using the delta method (Sobel test).
    2. If "Robust" is chosen, standard errors of the maximum likelihood estimators are calculated based on a sandwich-type covariance matrix.
    3. If "Bootstrap" is chosen, bootstrap standard errors are calculated.

You can also refer to the following paper since the SEM module in JASP is developed based on the R lavaan package.
