Linking OSweb (JATOS) with Qualtrics
Hello,
Has anyone had success, or know of a way, to link a study hosted on JATOS with Qulatrics? The goal is to have extensive questionnaire data in Qualtrics, and have a OSWeb task hosted on JATOS embedded in the Qualtrics survey using HTML (e.g., iframe). The issue is, however, since OSWeb randomly assigns subject numbers, I haven't been able to find a way to link OSWeb data to Qualtrics data. I thought about passing the subject number in the URL, but couldn't get this to work. If anyone has any solutions, or knows of a way to link the data from both sources it would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks,
Dan

Hi Dan,
not sure I understand your problem. But you can get URL query parameter via jatos.js: http://www.jatos.org/jatos.js-Reference.html#original-url-query-parameters.

Dear Kristian,
I have a similar question as Dan. I want to test subjects on Prolific with a Qualtrics questionnaire and then forward them to my OSWeb study hosted on JATOS to then forward them to compilation code of Prolific in the end. I did so by letting subjects fill in their IDs manually and by automatically forwarding them from one to the other. It, theoretically, works, however, filling in participant IDs in OSWeb is complicated and comes with quite a lot of issues.
I would want to use URL parameters instead and I think, I can manage to do that from Prolific to Qualtrics, but how can I do that once subjects are forwarded from Qualtrics to JATOS? The link you posted didn't really help me with that as I'm a real beginner when it comes to this...
Thank you for your help,
Joanna
Hi @Joanna_RUG ,
As it happens, I just made a YouTube video about a related matter. It's not identical to your situation, but might still be of some help, at least as background information.

Hi Lotje,
thank you for your post & help. I also found these instructions: https://solowiki.services.universiteitleiden.nl/index.php?title=Qualtrics_linking
which really did the trick for me!
Joanna
Ow wow, thanks for the link :)

Dear all,
I tried to follow Lotje's and the Leiden wiki tutorial to pass information from jatos to limesurvey and vice versa using the URL query parameters. Passing info from jatos to limesurvey works well, but I have been unsuccessful the other way around. I managed to get the values I want to pass (LimesurveyId and FavoriteAnimal) correctly in the URL:
But if I click the link, the values were not registered in JATOS/OsWeb:
Any ideas about what went wrong? I attached the OsWeb file below for your reference. I appreciate your response in advance!

Hi @wdhany,
Your OSWeb program is correct. The problem comes from the link Limesurvey directs the respondent to:
You should have
&LimesurveyId=241688&FavoriteAnimal=Cat. For some reason, you got some "&" stuff inserted in there. Edit your link and it'll work fine (I tried your task on my own JATOS server and the task got both parameters correctly). Some tips when this kind of problems arises... If your OSWeb task displays the parameter as "unknown" rather than generating an error, it means that your code is working but that the parameter isn't read. This is usually because of an error in the name of the parameter (check lowercase/uppercase, for example).
Good luck!
Fabrice.
It works beautifully now. Thanks!
