Problem with the space bar pressing after instructions

Hi,

I've been creating my experiment in the research field of psychology for a while now, so It is almost done.

I am still facing a problem, though.

After the instructions being presented, partecipants are required to press the space sbar in order to move on and start the experiment.

Given that the software does not seem to be sensitive to the key pressing at first, I often need to press the space bar twice to move ahead.

How can I solve this space bar pressing insensitivity problem out?

Have a pleasant weekend

  • Hi @MicolG ,

How do you present the instructions? The problem must be somewhere in the way you implemented your task or code. Could you upload a short version of your task to the forum (or a basic task where you encounter the same problem)?

    Cheers,

    Fabrice.

  • Hi @MicolG ,

Quick question: Are you sure that you set the duration of the sketchpad presenting the instructions to 0 instead of "keypress"? Otherwise OpenSesame will wait for two keypresses (assuming that your instruction sketchpad is followed by a keyboard_response item).

And a second suggestion: Since space-bar presses can get the value "SPACE" or "space" (depending on system and browser), make sure to put both options in the "allowed response" box (that is, if you are defining allowed responses at all...).

    Perhaps this already helps?

    Cheers,

  • Thanks Lotje, really.

I added the value SPACE, and now it works.

    That's great!
