Interpretation results

Hello

Can anyone help me with the interpretation of this contrast table?

As you can see comparison 3 is significant, based on the custom contrast coefficients, does this mean that the condition IIT scores higher (considering the positive estimate) than IT, or the other way around?

At last, my thesis supervisor installed the first column, can anyone tell what this reflects, since there is no direct comparison with groups?

Thanks in advance!

Kind regards

Marie-Laure

  • Hi Marie-Laure,

Comparison 3 compares the conditions IIT and IT, where the estimate column refers to the estimated marginal mean difference of mean(IT) - mean(IIT) (since IIT has a minus in the contrasts). This estimate is positive, which indicates that the mean of IT is greater than the mean of IIT.

Comparison 1 refers to a comparison between the mean of CIT and IIT grouped together, and the mean of CT and IT grouped together. Here the estimate refers to the estimated mean difference of mean(CIT, IIT) - mean(CT, IT). Does this clarify things?

    Kind regards,

    Johnny
