How to randomly present pictures from filepool

Good afternoon everyone.

I am having trouble figuring out how to randomly present pictures from my file pool. I am currently using OpenSesame version 2.9.7(this is only because the laboratory computer that I am working with is really old and the lead researcher does not want to upgrade to a new computer). I have figured out how to add a SPECIFIC picture but this is not sufficient as I am trying to randomly generate the pictures based on variables that I defined early in the loop. Here is the file that contains all of the variables that I am trying to use.

If you can provide me a link on how to do this then that would be of great help.

    It is difficult to give you a precise reply without more information about your design and method. It sounds as if you are using a quasi-randomization method. Could you specify how the conditions work? Are you just aiming to randomize the rows in the loop table based o some condition? Or are you aiming to separately randomize the order of cells within distinct columns of that table? Are you aiming to start from information in the table loop or are you planning to work from array to populate it on the go?

    It is likely that you'll need code to achieve what you're after, but I can't be more specific without more details.

    I think that you'll probably find useful information in these threads to be able to adapt the ideas to your specific needs. I'm not sure whether the code will work in version 2.9, though. Some functions may require a more recent version or have older equivalents. You'll have to try it out.

    I'm not sure how old your lab computer is but have you tried installing the latest version of OS? I don't think OS has heavy system requirements. Might be worth a try. In the worst case, you can always download and reinstall the 2.9 version (https://osdoc.cogsci.nl/2.9.2/getting-opensesame/download/).

    Ideally, it'd be nice if you could convince the lead researcher to get a more recent computer. I don't think it needs to be super powerful to run OS.
