Infinite values using Log (plus 1) transformation in JASP
Hello,
Small user question of JASP.
I have sig. Shapiro-Wilkes tests. So currently using Log transformation to normalise data.
I am using Log (plus 1) as some scores are zero. This is giving me infinite values in some cases, meaning I can’t then analyse the data using RM ANOVA in JASP.
Any advice?
Thanks in advance!

Dear Haizeydays,
Which values are infinite when you transform them? Do you have a screenshot?
Cheers,
E.J.
Hi E J,
it seems to be a select few…. It must be user error in some way, as 0 plus 1 should be 1, not infinite…
Sorry I can’t attach a picture… I’ll move to my computer…
I hope this helps!
What is the log1eyes transformation? It is not log(1+eyes)...can you make a screenshot of the transformation rule you applied?
I can describe it...
Compute column
Label Column name
Choose Log from side bar
Drop in variable Log (eyes)
Then include the plus 1
Log(eyes)+1
But you need Log(eyes + 1), right? So the log should go over "eyes+1"
Thank you so much for this, it did work! Sorry it took me so long to say thank you!
Great that it worked!
