unique IDs in JATOS

Hello,

do you know if there is a difference between

  • jatos.workerId (each worker who is running a study has an ID)
  • srid (JATOS participant ID is available through the srid)

I want to link different studies and sending a unique ID using URL parameters. I have implemented now the workerID, but I am not sure if this ID is unique (= identify uniquely the participant).

Best and thank you in advance

Julius

  • Hi Julius,

Yes, there is a difference between the worker ID and the srid (study result ID).

The study result stores all results of one single study run. It consists of one or more component results. Each study run has exactly one srid.

Depending on the worker type a worker can do one or multiple study runs and therefore can be associated with one or multiple study results. E.g. a worker of Personal Single type can run a study exactly once and therefore has only one study result associated. On the other side a worker of Personal Multiple type can run a study multiple times and then have many study results belonging to it.

I want to link different studies and sending a unique ID using URL parameters. I have implemented now the workerID, but I am not sure if this ID is unique (= identify uniquely the participant).

The worker ID is definitely unique in the sense that there is only one worker in your JATOS instance that can have a certain worker ID. But I'm not sure I understand what you want to do with the URL parameters. Depending on the worker type you are using a participant running your two studies might get two different worker IDs. But probably because of this you want to pass on the first run's worker ID to the second run?

    Best,

    Kristian

  • Hey Kristian,

But probably because of this you want to pass on the first run's worker ID to the second run?

right I am passing the first ID to the second and third run. I am using the JATOS server to host our self programmed software (static webpage): https://studien.psychologie.uni-freiburg.de/publix/325/start?batchId=404&generalMultiple

Great that JATOS is so flexible and you can hardly imagine what kind of studies are possible :)!

I will use now the srid of the frist study to pass it on!

    Best,

    Julius
