Stimuli and Participant Capacity

I was wondering what the capacity is for stimuli files is on the server? For our research we were hoping to be able to host around 1,000 stimuli files possibly more. I also was wondering what the maximum number of participants per experiment can be? We were hoping for a number around 200 as well. Any information on this would be great. Thank you!

  • It all depends on your server: number of files are limited by the OS and disk size. Max number of participants depends on your server size. What kind of server do you have? But 1000 stimuli files is nothing unheard of and 200 participants is kind of normal. But online experiments have some constrains that you don't have on local (lab) computers, e.g. if you want to pre-load all 1000 files in the browser it might takes a long time (depending on file size) and might lead to out-of-memory problems in your participant's computer. Best is to really test your study via a slow internet connection on a not-so-powerful computer.
