OpenSesame String/Text Response By Participant

Hello,

I am new to OpenSesame.

I want to design an experiment in which the participant, after seeing the stimuli, will be typing their thoughts on the stimuli. How can I realize this ?

Any help much appreciated.

  • Hi @Raghu,

You can achieve that using the form_text_input plugin:

This allows you to collect text from the subject. Just present it after the visual stimulus to collect the subject's thoughts.

    Good luck!

  • Thanks very much @Fab.

Could you please clarify one more thing. How do I proceed from there?

Because apparently there is no option to move to the next step on this form_text_input. Like there is no Ok button or any keypress option.

If I set some value for timeout then the form does not take any input.

    Sincerely,

    Raghu

  • Hi @Raghu,

Responses are validated when the subject presses the ENTER key.

The timeout property does work; it limits the time subjects have to reply (when time is out, whatever they have typed by then is taken as their response).

    Good luck!

    Fabrice.

  • Thank you so much @Fab

With this knowledge, hopefully I will be able to design my first experiment in OpenSesame.
