Second screen for eyetracking data
Hi there!
We are working on an eyetracking experiment. During the experiment, we would like to see where the participant is looking on the screen on a second screen. This to monitor where the participant is looking ánd check if the eyetracking is still keeping track of the eyes.
Does anyone know if this is possible?
Another related question, is it possible to control opensesame from a second screen? Where you initialize the experiment on 1 computer (let's say the experimenter's computer) and play the experiment on a second screen (the participant's computer or screen).

That depends a bit on the eyetracker that you use. With eyelink it is possible to bring the info on the display to the eye tracking machine, so that you see fixations and saccades on top of the stimulus display. I don't know whether this is possible for other eye trackers.

That is possible, but it has consequences for the latency of the screen refresh. If you have screens with separate information they are commonly essentially a stretched screen with a common coordinate system, such that twice as many pixels have to be drawn on every refresh. With the screens we have, it is not possible to get a higher refresh rate than 60Hz when having a 2-screen setup. This might be different in other situations. In psychopy the control of monitors is pretty neat, you can use work on one machine/monitor and set a different experimental monitor.

Should have mentioned which eyetracker we are using, it's an Tobii Pro Fusion.

With Eyelink, is that a function within OpenSesame or in an Eyelink manager (if there is such a thing?). Possibly we could find that function in Tobii Manager.

That's something in Eyelink. I couldn't find it on the open web. If you register (free) in the SR-Research forum, you will find some guidance on how it would work for eyelink, but you might as well ask the Tobii people directly.
