dual screen display

Hello to all !

My problem is the following: I would like to design the same task on two different screens placed at two different depths. The idea would be to program a visual search task by distributing the stimuli on two screens at the same time. So I would like to have these two screens synchronized. Do you know if it is possible to do this with opensesame and if so how? If it's not clear enough don't hesitate to ask me questions.

Thank you !!

  • Hi @Dylann916 ,

The simplest solution seems to be the following:

    1. On your PC, configure your two displays as an extended desktop
    2. In OpenSesame, in the General options tab, set the resolution of the experiment to the full size of the window, that is, with as the width the height of the two desktops combined (e.g. 2 x 1920 px = 3840 px) and as the height the resolution (of the largest desktop, if they differ)
    3. Use the Legacy backend
    4. And set the backend settings to this:

Just let us know if this works.

  • Hi lvanderlinden !

Thank you very much for your answer. I will test this as soon as we start programming the experiment and will let you know!

    See you soon,

  • Thanks again for your answer @lvanderlinden.

I have been rethinking the methodology of my future experiments a bit and would like to study depth effects in a different way. Overall, my idea would be to create a "virtual reality" experience in the simplest way possible. Overall, I would like to know if it is possible, using opensesame, to create a stereoscopic effect by displaying in a virtual reality headset two slightly different images. It would be necessary to have two different screen outputs. I wonder if this kind of procedure is feasible with opensesame (or if not, maybe psychopy is more adapted to this).

    Thank you,

    Dylan
