OpenSesame update 3.3.14 and browsers
Hi All,
Apologies for cross posting but I was unsure whether this was in the category of OpenSesame or OSWeb.
I have designed three studies in OS in version 3.3.12, and when ran on JATOS the studies do not run on Safari, and some other Operating System browser combinations (but the Safari issue is consisent). I am wondering if anyone else has encountered this issue and if upgrading the tasks to the new version of OpenSesame would potentially solve this incompatibility issue?
Has anyone tried? I am afraid that if I upgrade my OpenSesame, my experiments will not have an easy transition and I will be stuck with debugging.
Thank you.
Marta

Hi @m.vel ,
I would just try to update and see whether this solves the Safara issue. The only reason for not updating would be when you are already halfway running an experiment on real participants (in which case it seems more valid to first finish that). You don't have to be afraid of any backward incompatibilities.
Feel free to keep us updated.
Cheers,
Lotje

Hi Lotje,
Thank you for the advice.
I have updated to 3.3.14, and the good news is that the experiment runs as before. But the Safari issue is not solved. I did in the meantime re-arrange the elements in the experiment, so it now starts with a consent form, while before my first page was a sketchpad with audio. I can click on the consent form, and the experiment moves forwards- but once more being blocked on the sketchpad with audio. So it does not seem to be purely a Safari issue, as much as a Safri+sketchpad/audio.
A colleague also told me that Safari has to be above version 14 (I have version 15.4- so that is not the issue), and to disable cross-site tracking. None of this works, and the experiment continues not to run on Safari.
best,
Marta
