Bayesian linear mixed model default prior

Hello! I was wondering what the default prior is in JASP for Bayesian linear mixed models. I noticed that there are no options to change the prior specification, so I was hoping to understand the exact distribution(s) being used. I believe it is the same as the rstanarm, but it would be helpful to include this information in the blue "i" icon!

Best,

KC

  • Hi KC,

Yes, the Bayesian (Generalized) Mixed Models analysis uses the autoscaled priors from rstanarm (as the analysis provides estimation only and no Bayes factors). We should've described this better in the documentation -- we are planning to make the prior specification accessible to the users. (We will update the documentation accordingly.)

    Cheers,

    Frantisek
