Linear mixed modelling and R output in JASP

Hello, 2 queries:

  • I wondered whether a guide for running and interpreting LMM in JASP is available?
  • I also wanted to check whether it is possible to no export R code/ syntax from the JASP output? I understand this is a feature that is coming, but not sure whether it has been introduced yet.
  • Many thanks!

  • Hi JP21,

    1. We are working on a guide. There should be a preprint soon.
    2. R code: as of JASP 0.17, we now have R code for the analyses that are not part of a separate module. I will write a post about this, but you can see it in action on the blog post that introduces the 0.17 version. So it should work for LMMs. However, it will run in JASP but not in R Studio (yet). We will complete the syntax integration in the upcoming releases.

    Cheers,

    E.J.

  • Hi E.J,

Thank you for your response and updates on the guide and R code. In terms of the guide, it is helpful to know one will be available soon. Do you have a (rough) ETA on when a pre-print will be available? I've just checked out the blog and can see the R code in action - exciting! Though, I'm not quite sure what you mean by the code running in JASP but not R studio, yet?

    Many thanks,

    Jess.

  • Hi Jess,

I am doing the best I can, but the main author is pretty busy.

About the code: you can edit it (and see the changes in the GUI), you can copy it and paste it in the JASP R console (which reproduces the analysis, a little like SPSS syntax I think), but currently it does not produce output when pasted in R Studio -- there are some software hurdles that we need to overcome to get that working.

    E.J.

  • Hi JP21, I suppose you've done this already but while waiting for the user guide, you can take a look at the documentation for the linear mixed models analysis in JASP by click the "i" button in the analysis
