Small and capital letters in the correct_response column

Hi

I'm teaching an online course about (among others) opensesame.

One student, that uses Mac and the current version of opensesame, used the letters 'k' and 'D' to define correct responses.

In the keyboard response she entered 'D' and 'K' as the allowable responses.

Testing the experiment (on a windows computer), I had the caps lock off.

I expected correct to be 0 since d is not the same as D.

Is this a bug or a feature that allow for flexibility?

Thanks,

Tali.

  • Hi @labovich,

The keyboard responses/allowable/correct responses of a keyboard object are not case sensitive, so "k" and "K" are equivalent. I believe that you could achieve case sensitivy using coding, though, but you'd have to implement code that manually compares the response to allowable responses to determine whether they match.

  • Thanks! So that means that it is acceptable to mix capital and samall letters in the 'correct_response' column?

  • Hi @labovich,

That should be the case, yes. Best way is to try it out with your task to know for sure.
