Bayesian Mixed Model | Prior Distribution

Hello!

I use a Baysian Mixed Model with JASP for my analyses. Unfortunately I can't find any information about the Prior distribution. I currently assume that the default, uninformed prior with a Cauchy distribution and a scale of 1/√2 and a location of 0 is also used here (as it is in the Paired T Test for example). Does anyone here have any experiences?

I appreciate any hints and help!

Best regards

Jonathan

  • Hi Jonathan,

The prior distributions are weakly informative and should be well-behaved in parameter estimation settings. The module uses the default prior distribution settings of the rstanarm R package which defines normal(location = 0, scale = 2.5) prior distributions on scaled and centered model coefficients.

We know updated the documentation to state that.

    Cheers,

    Frantisek
