Confirmatory Factor Analysis: my JASP seems to have a limit of factors and items it can analyze

Hey, I am currently writing my bachelor thesis and am using the CFA on JASP. The tool I am trying to analyze has a total of 16 factors, each with around 5 to 20 items (in total, the whole tool has 190 items). At around 9 to 11 factors, it just keeps loading but nothing changes. There has also been times where JASP would crash.

Any suggestions?

  • As you mentioned in a later post, I suspect you are estimating too many factors with too few data. But JASP should output a more informative error message I guess

  • Yeah, I also think that the number of data plays a huge role, but my supervisor still wants to me to look further into the CFA. But you mentioned a collinearity diagnostics in my previous post, ill look into that! Thank you!!
