JASP freezes when trying to open files
I have no programming skills (OK so literally 50 years ago I took a single programming class but that does not count). I have read some posts that allude to my problem but the "fixes" are so far out of my skill set that they are not a fix for me.
Every time I try to open existing files lately JASP completely freezes up and I have to use the Task Manager to close it. I cannot open my existing files except for the truly very smallest ones.
I cleared my cache just last week so that should not be a problem and I would like to avoid that for the silliest reason of all: it looses my progress in online games. But last week I just had to; I would not like to have to repeat it this week. And should not have to.
Any other ideas? Please respond with baby steps.

Oh and I have version 0.19.1
This is really strange and obviously should not happen. My go-to suggestion is to go to "Preferences" in JASP and turn "Safe graphics" on, but if that does not do the trick, my advice is to post the issue on our GitHub page (for details see https://jasp-stats.org/2018/03/29/request-feature-report-bug-jasp/) -- this will bring you in direct contact with the programming team, who are eager to sort this out.
Cheers,
E.J.
This happened to me also. The site kept spinning for about 45 minutes.
After you've followed EJ's suggestions, if you need to, you can revert back to a previous JASP version until a fix is deployed: https://jasp-stats.org/previous-versions/
