[open] Failed to Calibrate , Eyelink

edited July 2014 in OpenSesame

Hi,
I am having trouble getting calibration to work. We are running open sesame from source using portable WinPython. The program runs just fine and when it gets to calibration, the calibration screen on participant's computer does not show up. It gets stuck on Calibration Instructions. I pressed C or space on participant's computer and calibration won't start. When Enter is pressed, an icon with the eye shows up and I am able to adjust threshold and other settings.
But crosshairs do NOT show up.

On the experimenter's computer, however, calibration seems to work just fine. Once you press the C key, the fixation dot appears and is ready for the participant's eye movement. So the only problem is with the participant's computer.

Any ideas why this would happen?

Thank you very much!

    Hi Olya!

Does this mean you fixed this issue?

    Some troubleshooting:

    1) Have you set the correct display size? This might result in the targets being drawn off-screen in some back-ends. Example: if your screen is 1024x768 pixels, you shouldn't set the resolution of your experiment to e.g. 1920x1080.

    2) Have you set the background and the foreground colour to the same colour? This would result in calibration targets with the same colour as the background.

I think it must be something silly like this, as the link with the tracker seems to work just fine (evidenced by the fact that you can see the eye image, and you can adjust the threshold settings). If my suggestions do not work, would you mind sending me your experiment to test?

    Good luck!

    Hi Edwin,
I checked all the things you suggested and it seems to all be correct. I emailed you my experiment and would appreciate if you could take a look.
    Thank you!
