[open] Query on randomization of audio files in Auditory-Visual Identification Experiment

edited July 2015 in OpenSesame

Hi all,

I am trying to program an AV identification expt in which a picture appears followed by two sounds in succession. The subject has to identify the correct sound corresponding to the picture. Please see the dropbox link (https://www.dropbox.com/s/tgtht1ckbh605ap/query to opensesame.JPG?dl=0) for the expt screenshot.

Now, I want to counterbalance the order of sounds from 'CorrectSound' and 'IncorrectSound' columns so that it us not always the 'CorrectSound' appearing first. Any thoughts on how to achieve this?

Thanks in advance!

Akshay

    Hi Akshay,

Depending on how many different sounds you have and how you want to combine all of these, there can be multiple solutions.

In the most simple case, you should have a look on step 3 of the Step-by-step tutorial.

Basically, what you do is changing the items correctSound and incorrectSound into Sound1 and sound2. In the variable wizard you can make sure that all the sound files are counterbalanced and just as many correct sounds will be assigned to sound1 as incorrect sounds.

    Is this helpful?

    Good luck,

    Eduard
