[open] Text disappear when I touch the script (2.9.6. for Mac OS X)

edited August 2015 in OpenSesame

Hi everyone,

so I hope this isn't just me going mad. I'm new to Open Sesame, but I can't see that I should be doing anything to cause this:

I've followed the tutorial steps carefully, but for some reason my text rendering disappears if I touch the script. Here's an example:

Text shown normally from a form_text_render item: image

Then I change the "center="no"" to "center="yes"" to get in centered: image

And then the form_text_render item refuses to show anything when I run the experiment: image

The same thing happens if I make other changes to the script - it's not just that it's e.g. centering it outside of view on screen.

Can anyone help me out? I'm on a Macbook Pro 15 inch with retina display, using Open Sesame 2.9.6.

Best,

    Hey Ulrik,

I tested the form_text_display item (I suspect this is the same thing as the text_render item you're talking about) on my Windows computer and here changing center="no" to center="yes" works just fine. I thus suspect this to be a Mac-related problem, but I have no Mac to dive into the problem with. @dschreij, do you happen to recognize this problem?

    Cheers,
    Josh

    Hey Ulrik,

I am having the exact same problem on my macbook air and it is driving me crazy!
It seems as though the new version still has some issues that need fixing.

I deleted the new version of Open Sesame from my computer and downloaded the old version for which the text_render function is working.

This was the only way I could find around it for now. I hope this helps.

    Cheers,

    Sarah

I'm going to check this guys. Could indeed be a mac related problem. Can you please add issues like these to the OpenSesame issue-tracker on Github? https://github.com/smathot/opensesame/issues. I use this (like Sebastiaan) as my to-do list of issues that still need to be resolved.
By the way @vandasa. By old version, do you mean a version of the 2.9.x branch prior to 2.9.6? Or do you mean all the way back to 2.7.x?
