McGurk effect. Linking of particular cycles in two loops to play at the same time

edited October 2015 in OpenSesame

Hi, I am trying to develop an experiment on the McGurk Effect in audio visual speech perception. And am trying to build it using written words (syllables like ba, ga etc) instead of a video.
I want to ask if there is a way to simultaneously play a particular sound with cycle of the variable.
In simpler words, link a particular variable cycle in loop 'a' with another particular sound which is a cycle in another variable in loop 'b'.
I have used 'parallel' to play both the loops together.
How do I add multiple audio files as cycles in one loop (loop b - audio)

Sorry... new at this. It's just been a few weeks.
Any help would be appreciated

    Hi Aysha,

I don't really understand your problem. Did you know you can add multiple variables in one loop item? You won't need two loops for two variables. And your experiment idea is really straightforward: in a loop item you have a variable text (which can be set to either 'ga' or 'ba' or 'da', etc.) and a variable sound.

There is a tutorial on making an experiment like this: http://osdoc.cogsci.nl/tutorials/capybara/

In this experiment, you hear the sound of a cat or dog, while you see the picture of a cat, dog, or capybara. Just change the meow or bark with a 'ga' or 'ba', and the cat or dog with a text stimulus. You'll get the idea!

    Cheers,

    Josh
