[solved] Item sampler doesn't work MacOS ?

edited November 2015 in OpenSesame

Hi,

I'm trying to run an experiment on my MacBook Air (OSX 10.10.5) with OpenSesame but the sampler item doesn't work and i just can't figure out why.

I've simplified the experiment : a fixation dot, an ogg sound and a loop that run this trial with 3 different sounds. But i still have the same problem : instead of having the sound i only have a "tick" just as described here : http://forum.cogsci.nl/index.php?p=/discussion/1468/solved-sampler-error/p1

I've tried to run it on Windows, the experiment works fine. What can i do to solve this ?

Here is a link to try the experiment.

I also tried to run the experiment from this tutorial : http://osdoc.cogsci.nl/2.9/tutorials/step-by-step-tutorial/

I downloaded the final expe and everything works except the sound (i can hear a tick). Tried it on windows it works, tried it on a friend's mac it doesn't work.

I'm a beginner with OpenSesame, can anyone help me to find another way to play my sound ? Maybe by using the media_player_vlc plugin ?

    Hi,

Try to use a .wav file instead of ogg. That worked for me. You could first try thit test (including a .wav file) I made:

    Hi,
    thx for helping me.

Your .wav works perfectly fine, but mine doesn't. I don't understand why, it has been converted from mp3 to wav using audacity and it works fine on VLC or other media players. However, both .ogg and .wav versions can't be heard on OpenSesame.

Here is an example of stimulus both on ogg and wav format

I changed the sampling rate from 22050 to 44100 just like your sound piano.wav, and now it works !

Thanks for sharing your solution! Possibly you could also get it to work by changing the the sampler back-end settings for your experiment:
