Dot-probe task - Help!!

Hi there

I am just starting my dissertation looking into attentional bias to negative stimuli in anxious people. I will be using a dot probe task where before the probe is presented I will present two photos of three different levels of negativity. The probe will then appear after the pictures have disappeared. I was wondering firstly how I would get the two pictures onto the sketchpad in open-sesame in the right locations with the right size? Also is it even possible to do a dot-probe task on open-sesame?

Thanks!
Laurie

  • have inserted a screen shot here, does anyone know why my experiment wont run?

  • Hi Laurie,

First, yes, it is possible to have a dot - probe task in Opensesame.

Please have a look on the documentation site and the beginner tutorial first. The explanations there how to get images on the screen are rather straightforward and I am sure that you'll be able to fix your experiment yourself. If you still have problems, once you checked those pages, you can ask again here in the forum.

And with respect to the error message you posted, without more information it is quite impossible to say what is going on, so please provide more detail.
