Nonparametric tests

I am a PhD student and I've come across JASP this year and I'd like to congratulate all of you for this. Thank you, JASP helped me a lot so far.

I have a question: does JASP support nonparametric test such as Friedman's? I couldn't find any. If not, do you intend to implement nonparametric test?

Cheers

  • Hi Gabriel,

Thanks. Yes we do have nonparametric tests (e.g., Mann-Whitney U, Wilcoxon, Spearman, Kendall), and we are working to include more. We are also working to develop and include Bayesian versions of these, and the latest JASP release includes Kendall's tau, for instance. This is work by Johnny van Doorn:
van Doorn, J., Ly, A., Marsman, M., & Wagenmakers, E.-J. (in press). Bayesian inference for Kendall's rank correlation coefficient. The American Statistician. http://www.ejwagenmakers.com/inpress/VanDoornEtAlBayesianKendallsTauinpress.pdf

    Cheers,
    E.J.

  • Thanks E.J.! I asked because I couldn't find a nonparametric test in the repeated measures ANOVA tab. Those nonparametric test that you mentioned I already found. Also, in the repeated measures ANOVA tab the Q-Q plot assumption is missing (but in the ANOVA tab it is there).

I hope you keep up the good work,
    All the best!

  • Thanks, I'll add this to the GitHub feature requests page!
    E.J.
