[solved] audio input as response/variable
First of all, sorry in case my question is trivial and my descriptions basic, I normally use my computer for not much else than office applications.
I'm using OpenSesame to build a picture naming task, i.e., pictures (sketchpad items) are displayed in succession which are to be named by the participants with their response being recorded. All this is working fine so far, but here's the crucial bit: I want to measure the time they need to name the picture.
If I understand the programme correctly, a way to make this work would be to have their vocal response determine the duration of the sketchpad item display, so that this duration can be the time measured. Is it technically possible to make the onset of some audio input the variable that determines duration (i.e., ends display)?
Or, alternatively, is there a way to measure the time between two sounds, i.e. if I included a synth item just before the picture to measure the time between synth item and vocal response? (other than running some other programme simultaneously in the background).
Thanks very much for your help!!
