editing text input form to display variable

Is it possible to edit a text input form (running on OSWEB) to display a variable as part of the text content?

I've been able to reference a variable by using the square brackets [ ] when running the experiment locally on my own computer but if I want to show a text variable (a string) in an OSWEB experiment how do I reference it on the text input form?
