Can someone please explain, in simple terms, how to install a plug-in so I can include videos in my experiment?
I'm new to this and can't make sense of some of the instructions online...

Many Thanks,

K

    Hi K,

In general, an overview of the available plug-ins (and information on them) can be found here. How to install a plug-in is explained here.

What you will want to do, is to download one of the video plug-ins. There are a few of those, some of which might or might not work on your platform. Most of them are still under further construction. I recommend starting with the VLC plug-in, to try if that works on your platform.

    1) Go to this page and click on the Download ZIP button.

    2) Once the zip-archive is downloaded, extract its contents.

    3) Place the contents in a single folder, named media_player_vlc.

    4) Place the media_player_vlc in your plug-ins folder (see this page for the precise location).

    5) Download VLC from the VideoLAN website.

    6) Install it on the default location (i.e.: do not change anything when you install it).

NOTE: vlc_media_player might just be installed in your version of OpenSesame already! Check first, before downloading everything. If the plug-in is already installed, jump to step 5.

NOTE 2: Don't try to do this using the portable version. Use the standalone version of OpenSesame.

    Good luck!

    Edwin

Thank you Edwin, I figured it out after a while but glad to see I did things properly!
