[open] python.exe has stopped working

edited October 2014 in OpenSesame

Hi,

I have been running for a while experiments with the portable version of OpenSesame “WinPython-OpenSesame-0.27.3” and it was working great (operating system: Windows 7 Enterprise Service Pack 1). Today, while debugging an experiment my program crashed and I had to force quit to get back to Windows. Now, when I start OpenSesame I have this error:

"python.exe has stopped working

A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available."

and the program doesn’t start at all. I tried to unzip WinPython again but the problem persisted.
Do you know what is causing python.exe to not work?

Best,

Antimo

    Hi Antimo,

Jep, that's it, you can throw away the PC now.

Just kidding, of course! What happens when you try to start OpenSesame? Does the error you mention pop up right away?

Does the same occur when you try to use any other of the applications in WinPython, e.g. python.exe itself?

As a temporary fix, could you consider using the standalone version?
