Pygaze in OpenSesame under Ubuntu 14
I'm trying to get Pygaze in OpenSesame under Ubuntu 14, and I've tried to put the files in /usr/lib/pymodules, or in the .opensesame/plugin folder, give permission to every user to view and execute the files, and restarted the system, but I still do not see the Pygaze icons in the taskbar on the left (while I do, for example, see the staircase). Any idea what I am doing wrong?

P.S. I fail to install the Eyelink software under Ubuntu 14. Would this be an issue?

You probably did this, but just to be sure: have you checked whether the icons do appear in the menu? Under Items, a PyGaze subcategory should be visible (you should be able to find the icons there).
The EyeLink on Ubuntu is more of an issue. I installed its dependencies on Ubuntu 12.04 a while ago. The instructions on SR's forum (which I assume you've found?) are relatively good. The breakthrough for me came when I realised the version of Java should be lower than the current defaults! I can't remember which version it was, but simply downgrade until you've found the correct one. Warning: even after installing everything, the EyeLink communications were a bit temperamental. It would crash or fail to start up at seemingly random points (sometimes crashing on startup, and then working beautifully on the next startup). You might be better of using a Windows-based stimulus PC instead...
To actually answer you question: Not having installed EyeLink's software should not hinder the PyGaze plug-ins.

Many thanks for your detailed answer! I started to fear that I had to rely on Windows. A bit of a shame, because I like Ubuntu so much better.
