[solved] Double Keyboard press: bug or feature?

edited September 2012 in OpenSesame

Hi,

I have the problem, that in order to get a response, I have to press a response button twice.
This problem occured on Mac and PC in the same way? What could be the reason?

Grazie e ciao

    Hi,

Could it be the case that the duration of the item just before the keyboard_response item (e.g. a sketchpad) is still set to "keypress"? In this case, a first keypress is needed to advance the experiment to the next item (the keyboard_response). Next, the keyboard_response item also waits for a keypress.

You an easily solve this by setting the duration of the sketchpad, or whatever item you use for stimulus presentation, to '0' (or something else, if you want to enable keypresses only after a certain period of time). This does not mean that the target is presented for only 0ms, but that the
experiment will advance to the next item right away. Since the keyboard_response waits for a response but doesn't change the screen, the target will remain visible until a response has been given.

If you're still encountering the same problem after trying the above, you could provide us with some more information and we can find out what to do about it.

    Hope this helps!

    Best,

    Lotje
