Playing multiple videos

edited April 2016 in OpenSesame

Hi,

So I'm currently using the vlc plugin for videos - which works okay - I managed to get a video to play in fullscreen - but where I'm now running into issues is that only the first video plays - I have participants respond to a few questions after each video. The first video plays fine, I collect the responses, but when they go to the second video, the frame just pauses and then the question about the second video pops up...I'm not getting an error message or anything - so maybe I'm just missing something?

Any help would be great!

Quick additional comment: If I stack the videos one after another they place in sequence - but the second one won't play if there's anything inbetween.

Sorry about this post - it's not really the central issue: which is that I can play videos in dummy/advanced dummy using vcl media player - but whenever I try to play the video in Eyelink it doesn't work - basically it just shows the screen before the video, then after 15s (the video runtime) skips ahead to the next screen. I didn't want to make yet another thread, but I can if that seems more relevant. Apologies for the multiple posts!

    Hi Mikaelr,
so if I understand correctly, it works on you pc, but not on the eyelink's? The vlc is quite picky concerning the hardware it runs on. It is possible that the eyelink pc has a videocard which isn't really that compatible with the plugin. At the moment this sadly is not easy to fix and it's also really difficult for me to pinpoint the source of the problem from the descriptions you give me.
It would have been easier to use the media_player_gst plugin, but judging from earlier posts, you also had some trouble with this and that's why you are back at the vlc plugin right? Were you running this on Windows PCs?

    Hi,
Yes, it is on a Windows and it's definitely possible that there might be a videocard issue (not something I would be able to fix). For now I am just playing the video in windowed mode which is working just fine. If I figure out how to get the media_player_gst plugin to work at somepoint and that solves the issue I'll be sure to post it here.

    Thank you again!

  • Hi mikaelr, you should check out the new media_player_mpy which is included with OpenSesame by default from version 3.1 onwards.
