[solved] A data file has multiple column header

edited October 2012 in OpenSesame

Hello!

I'm a new user of the opensesame and becoming a huge fan.
But I have a trouble processing data files.
In my experiment, I have multiple loops and each loop has own logger which makes multiple column headers in one data file. Thus, it is difficult to import this data file to SPSS or other statistics program.

Do you have any suggestions for solving this problem?
Thank you for your help in advance!!

    Hi,

Is there a specific reason for having different loggers for the different loops? If not, I would suggest using the same logger item at the end of each loop. This can be achieved as follows:

    • Make a logger item for your first sequence (by clicking "append new item" in the sequence tab or by using drag-and-drop)
    • For all subsequent sequences, click "append existing item" in the sequence tab and choose the logger item you made for the first sequence.

After doing this, the variables from the different loops will be collapsed in rows rather than having different variables names (and thus separate columns).

Does this solve your problem? If not, you could provide us with some more details about your experiment and the way you would like your output file to be organised.

    Best wishes,

    Lotje

    Hi,

Your suggestion works well. Thank you so much.
I learned how to use this program through the tutorial example, so I didn't know I could use the same logger repeatedly.

    Thanks again!
