keyboard exclusive/deactivating windows key in opensesame
Hi,
when I specify "allowed responses" in a keyboard response object this should theoretically disable reactions towards all other keys (except for escape). However, it seems like the windows key is always active and, rather unfortunately , does its typical windows thing even when the experiment is running, i.e. it minimizes the full screen experiment and goes to the windows desktop screen. This can produce interruptions or data loss in experiments when a participant accidentally hit this key.
Other experimental software sets the keyboard exclusive, i.e. does not allow for windows functions to be triggered accidentally when the experiment is running. Is there a similar function in opensesame that I overlooked? Any way in opensesame do either dismiss the windows key and/or really all other buttons apart from the "allowed responses"?
Thanks for any recommendations!

Hi Jakob,
In our labs (Win7 x64) we always completely disable the Windows key using something like:
I'm curious what other experimental software disables the Windows key as I know OpenSesame and E-Prime don't.

Hi Jarik,
Presentation does not react to the windows key during experiment runs (at least not on my computer here), and I think neither does psychtoolbox (if I remember correctly). Anyway, thanks for the link with the workaround, that should solve the problem for us.

The Menu-key will also be disabled in addition to the Windows-key.
