Can Sampler play the same file for multiple subjects simultaneously?

Hi there,

I am using opensesame for a linguistics experiment. My experiment and the related audio files are uploaded on a cloud-like space (an AFS drive) and then there are 50 computers in a lab that will open the experiment from the cloud at the same time. I have 22 audio files that will be played randomly to these 50 subjects sitting at the computers in the lab. (I have opensesame installed on all lab computers but the experiment will be run from a single file on the shared AFS drive.)

My question is:
If two or more subjects try to access the same audio file at the same time, will the experiment crash?
In other words, can sampler load the same audio file simultaneously for multiple subjects?

Thank you,
Kara

  • Hi Kara,

I'm not sure, but I would say as long as those files are only read, it should work. Editing, that is writing to, a file would cause problems, but reading should work (I guess).
