problem of keypress function of sketchpad

I have a simple question here which is the keypress function cannot work out in my experiment. I use a sketchpad to present a picture until any button of the keyboard is pressed by the participant. It worked well on two laptops, but it didn't work well on my school's desktops. The problem is that the picture disappears before I press any button. I calculated that the sketchpad only lasted for 15 seconds to 1 minute. And I tried setting the duration as the number 0 followed by a keyborad_response item(timeout as infinite). It still didn't work.
I would like to know how to deal with the problem. I hope someone can help.

That seems quite strange indeed, would it be possible to have a look at the experiment? It might also be handy to see what the differences are in operating system, etc between the laptops and the desptop computers
