Resolution, forms, and dialog boxes

Guys,
I'll start with the general question: is there any info anywhere describing the consequences of setting different resolutions within OpenSesame for the various backends?
The more specific problem: I use a couple of multiple choice forms at the beginning of my experiment to get values for certain variables that I use later in the experiment (e.g., showing stimuli in English vs. Greek based on language selection at the start of the experiment). But things get screwed up in different ways in different resolutions. Sometimes part of the text is not showing, other times the boxes cannot be selected, or the whole form is super slow. I can't seem to find a combination of resolution and backend that works ok so I'm wondering whether I could get these variables by popping up GUI dialog boxes instead. If yes, any help with that?
Best,
marios

  • Hi Marios,

Non-latin alphabets can be problematic and text input in forms is notoriously slow.
    A couple of questions
-is it possible to have a look at the experiment (or a simple example experiment that demonstrate the issue) that would make any advice much more precise
-are you asking participant to type, or are they only clicking boxes?
-which version of OS and operating system are you using?

PS: (regarding backends, most info is here, but there is no specific resolution page as far as I know)

  • Hi Roelof,
Thank you so much for your reply. Since I posted this there was an OS update that seems to have improved much the behavior of forms. I was just asking participants to click radio buttons and all seems to work fine now (....which explains why I forgot about my post until today!).
